Calling us from a downtown building

Start with the building, because that is the part of a downtown job nobody can work out standing in a lobby. Give us the address, the floor and the unit, say whether the front desk wants your name left with them, and tell us whether the service elevator has to be reserved or the loading dock only opens for part of the day. That one sentence often decides whether the repair finishes on the first trip or waits for the next open elevator slot. The round is a short one and we are in it all week: the Gaslamp Quarter, Little Italy, East Village, Core-Columbia, the Marina District, Cortez Hill, Horton Plaza, and the older houses up in Sherman Heights.

Then two minutes on the appliance itself. Tell us which unit, which compartment is actually wrong, roughly when it started, and anything the display is showing, read out exactly as it appears. Then the model and serial: they live on a data tag inside the cabinet, usually high on one of the side walls, though on some units the tag sits behind the grille instead. With that much we can normally name the likely fault before anyone leaves the shop and load the van for it. The line is answered at any hour, weekends and holidays included, and same-day slots are available most days.
