Ice Maker Repair in Downtown San Diego
Most downtown ice complaints are water complaints. Water gets to your kitchen through a building riser and a pressure regulator rather than straight off a street main, and on a high floor the static pressure sitting at the ice maker inlet valve can be at the bottom of what the machine needs to fill its mold. A valve that only half fills produces exactly the small, hollow, half-formed cubes people replace a module over. No ice at all, in a freezer that is otherwise cold, is a different repair on the harvest side: the module, its thermostat or its motor. Will my refrigerator have to be pulled out of the cabinetry?
Almost never. Built-in refrigeration is serviced in the opening: condenser behind a lift-off grille, with the evaporator fan, defrost heater, thermistors and control board reachable in place. In a condo that matters, because a 36 inch column often will not turn in the hallway it came down, and dragging one over a hardwood loft floor risks the panel and the flooring.
